* This is a sponsored post for Quorn *
Homemade burgers are so easy to make that you will never want to go to the drive-thru again. This Quorn Burger Recipe is lower in calories and fat than the average burger, full of flavour and a great way to eat less meat through the week (which is better for the environment). Kids will love them too, so they are perfect for the back to school meal plan.
Saturday night is burger night in our house, without fail. There is so much that you can do with a burger, that we never get bored. A juicy burger, a buttery bun, creamy cheese, loaded with toppings and the perfect sauce. What better way to spend the weekend?
We have been using Quorn for lots of our burger nights for a meat-free alternative. Although we love the ready made Quorn Burgers for a quick and easy burger, we really love using their mince to make our own homemade quorn burgers.
A lot of people don't realise that you can use the Quorn Mince to make homemade burgers, but you can and it is so easy. Just bind it with egg and breadcrumbs and you have a deliciously moist meat free burger recipe .

What you will need
- Quorn Meat Free Mince - A perfect meat alternative for making burgers.
- Shallots and garlic - Adds even more flavour to the burgers.
- Breadcrumbs - Helps to bind the burger together. Use wholewheat to help reduce calories.
- Egg - Also helps to bind the burger.
- Vegetarian pesto - Flavours the burger and also the sauce used on it.
- Fat free Greek yogurt - For the sauce. Greek yogurt is best as it is thicker.
- Burger buns - Any burger buns will do, but we went with brioche.
- Rocket (arugula) - Or any other type of lettuce will work.
- Cheese - You have to have cheese on a burger - we used mozzarella as it adds another Italian touch to the burger.
Step by step
One:Add a little oil to a pan and then add the diced shallots and garlic and gently cook for 2 minutes.
Two: Add the Quorn Meat Free Mince and cook for a further 3 minutes.
Three: Put the slice of bread in to a food processor and blend until it becomes breadcrumbs. Add to a bowl with the cooked Quorn mixture, egg, half the pesto and salt and pepper.
Four: Mix well.
Five: Use your hands to form the mixture in to 2 burgers and then put on a plate in the fridge for 30 minutes to firm up.
Six: Heat a little oil in the pan again and then add the burgers and cook for 2 minutes each side.
Seven: Mix the rest of the pesto with the yogurt and add to the buns with the rocket and then top with the burgers and mozzarella.

As a busy mum, that is just what I want from our meals, and we are taking a "less but better" approach to eating meat. Using Quorn mince
This recipe really couldn't be any simpler. You just mix the cooked Quorn mince, shallots and garlic with some egg, breadcrumbs and pesto and form them in the burger patties.
You can keep them in the fridge until you are ready to cook them and then fry them. The ultimate easy Quorn Burger Recipe!
Being able to make them ahead of time makes them perfect for now the kids are back at school. Time to spend as a family after school is so precious that you don't want to be spending too much of that time in the kitchen.
Make these Quorn Mince Burgers for an easy weeknight meal.
Italian burger
Pesto is one of those things that you can add to almost anything and it instantly makes it 20 times tastier. Sandwiches, pasta, vegetables and now burgers.
We mixed some in to the burger mix itself, and then stirred some in to yogurt to make a creamy pesto burger sauce that just gives this Quorn burger recipe so much extra flavour.
- Be really careful when flipping the Quorn burgers over, as they are a little more fragile than a meat version.
- We used pesto in ours to add more flavour, but you could swap it for something like harissa for a change.
- Want a lower carb option? Swap the burger bun for a giant lettuce leaf. It's a little messier, but certainly lighter.
- If you really want these in a bun, save some calories (around 100) by using a regular burger bun instead of brioche.
- Mini versions of these burgers would be great for party food.
